As a part of the Enriching by Outreaching project funded by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, Fulbright Alumni Association of Nepal (FAAN) organized an interaction program with youths at American Corner in Surkhet.
Ms. Rashmi KC from Fulbright Alumni Association of Nepal (FAAN) led the two hours youth interaction program at American Corner Surkhet. Mr. Hirdesh Kumar KC, Corner’s program coordinator, helped organize the program. There were around 15 participants – majority of them were master’s level students from English language stream.
Ms. Rashmi shared her personal story about how she pursued different career fields before going for further studies in the United States, and how Fulbright scholarship helped shape her present career. She also responded to questions asked by the participants about career prospects and challenges faced by today's youth.

There were 33 participants, majority of them were bachelor level students from science and management streams.
Ms. Rashmi KC from FAAN and Mr. Bikal Shrestha, an IVLP alumni, who is from Dhangadhi himself, led the two hours youth interaction program in American Corner in Dhangadhi.
Ms. Gita Joshi, American Corner’s program coordinator, helped organize the program.
The interaction started with a short breathing meditation. Ms. KC shared her personal story about how a girl from a remote village made it to the United States. Likewise, Mr. Shrestha shared his personal story about how his exposure and networking skills helped him run a national level election observation organization. The speakers encouraged participants to identify their strengths and pursue their interests in order to succeed in life.
As a part of the Enriching by Outreaching project funded by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, Fulbright Alumni Association of Nepal (FAAN) organized an interaction program with youths at American Corner in Pokhara. Altogether 39 students participated in the program. The students were from grade 11, 12 and Bachelors level.
Ms. Jony Mainaly, Executive Member of FAAN, led the session with logistical support from Mr. Amar Kamar of American Corner.
The modality of the program was based on short presentation from FAAN representative followed by discussion. The presentation shed light on the importance of youth population in the nation building endeavor and their vulnerability. The presentation focused on the decision dilemma that young people are faced with at their phase of life while making career choices and decisions in life. The presentation further highlighted on the importance of identifying options, developing pool of resources, skills backed by right foundations to excel in career decisions we make in life.
Applauding the initiatives, the participants in informal discussion, shared their interest in identifying right mentors to guide them through their career choices, continuation of such programs in the future and expanding its outreach.

Ms. Dovan Rai and Ms. Rashmi KC from FAAN led the two-hour interaction program. In total, 58 students (age 14 to 20) studying in grade 9, 10, 11, 12, and bachelor level participated in the program. Ms. Deepika Giri, American Corner’s program coordinator, helped organize the program.
The interaction focused around the issues of higher education and career. FAAN members talked about how important it is to have different choices, resources, skills and foundations before pursuing any career. Then the interaction moved to informal discussion with the participants. The participants shared their worries, plans and curiosity about their future career, and received suggestions from the FAAN members.
As a part of the Enriching by Outreaching project funded by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, Ms. Sarita Shreesh facilitated a series of four mentoring sessions at Butwal Multiple Campus in Butwal between March 9 and March 26, 2018.
These sessions were designed to empower groups of five youths by focusing on various aspects of leadership skills. The topics covered included the definition of leadership, different leadership styles, qualities of a good leader, the role of youth in nation-building, scholarships, life abroad, learning techniques, and more.
The mentoring sessions aimed to equip the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to become effective leaders and change agents in their communities. A significant emphasis was placed on inspiring the participants to become catalysts for positive change within society, instilling in them the belief that their actions hold significance. While information about scholarships was provided during the sessions, the attendees displayed little interest in applying for them. Instead, their primary focus was on exploring and discussing topics related to leadership.
On behalf of Fulbright Alumni Association Nepal (FAAN), Executive Member Dr. Archana Shrestha conducted a talk program in Chitwan with about 20 faculty members of science colleges participating in the program.
Dr. Shrestha actively engaged with participants who sought advice on how to overcome the geographical barriers they faced as residents outside the Kathmandu Valley in accessing opportunities provided by Fulbright and other US-funded programs. Her responsiveness was evident in her prompt replies, where she provided thoughtful and valuable insights on the matter.
Recognizing the importance of equal access to educational and cultural exchange opportunities, Dr. Shrestha shared strategies and resources that could help students navigate the challenges they encountered. She emphasized the significance of networking, leveraging online platforms, and connecting with local educational institutions and organizations to enhance their chances of securing these opportunities.
Fulbright Alumni Association of Nepal (FAAN) organized an interaction program with the youth at American Corner in Biratnagar on academic career prospects in Nepal and abroad. About 20 students participated in the program.
Presenting a talk on "Youth at the Crossroads: Choices versus Decisions", Executive Member of FAAN Ms. Jony Mainaly shared tips with local students on how to take right decisions about studies and career when faced with competing choices. She also shared experience of studying in the U.S. on Fulbright scholarship and enjoying successful careers after returning home.
The talk was followed by a lively interaction. The students not only posed questions but also expressed their views on different challenges faced by today's youth.
General Secretary of FAAN, Dr. Kirti K. Joshi also joined Ms. Mainaly in responding questions put forth by the participants.
About 20 local students participated in the event. Ms. Preeti Koirala of the American Corner helped organize the event.
